Franchisee support does not end when the business opens. Once operations begin, ongoing support can continue in areas such as training, operations, marketing and day-to-day management.

For this reason, before choosing a network it is important to understand what type of support is provided after opening and how it is delivered throughout the franchise relationship.

What support does a franchise provide to its franchisees?

The type of support varies between networks, but it usually focuses on three main areas: training, operational support and marketing. These resources help the franchisee manage the business according to the processes and standards established by the brand.

Initial and ongoing training

Training is essential for new franchisees to understand the processes, protocols, tools and standards required to manage their business. Depending on the network, it may combine classroom training, practical experience, online learning and specific resources such as operating manuals.

At Mail Boxes Etc., initial training lasts a total of 9 weeks: 6 weeks of practical experience in an MBE Centre and 3 weeks of remote theoretical training.

After this stage, franchisees have access to ongoing training throughout the life of the business through MBEiLearn, the network’s dedicated learning platform, as well as meetings and conventions where updates and knowledge are shared.

Operational support during the business activity

Operational support may include guidance on processes, supply chain management, new products and services, administrative matters, technical tools and other aspects of day-to-day business management.

At MBE, a supervisor is assigned from the beginning to support the franchisee and provide commercial and operational assistance to the Centre. In addition, the head office has specialised teams that can assist with issues related to suppliers, administration, operations and technology.

Regional meetings, conventions and internal communication systems also allow franchisees to stay in contact with other members of the network, share experiences and learn about new developments.

You can also learn more about specific experiences within the network through interviews with supervisors such as Carlos Rodríguez or Rafael Vergel.

Advertising and marketing

Marketing is another area in which a franchise network can provide resources to franchisees. Depending on the model, this may include brand campaigns, communication materials, local initiatives, digital tools and support around the opening of the business.

Mail Boxes Etc. develops a multichannel marketing and advertising strategy that combines national brand campaigns with local initiatives across both digital and traditional channels.

The aim is to strengthen brand awareness while providing Centres with tools to support their commercial activity within each local market.

What support does MBE provide to its franchisees?

The MBE model combines initial and ongoing training, operational support, supervision, marketing and network resources to support franchisees as they develop their Centres.

Before signing a franchise agreement, it is important to understand which support services are included, how they are provided and which responsibilities belong to each party.

It can also be useful to read the experiences of other MBE franchisees to better understand how they experience the business model and the support provided by the network.

What happens before opening?

Before reaching this stage, a candidate may also receive support related to finance, area analysis, premises selection and preparing for opening. You can learn more in our guide to support before opening a franchise.
